I believe in the stock wiring, most of the accessories are not wired through the ignition switch. The switch is not rated for high current, and switching on and off an electric motor is a particularly difficult load.

I wanted my truck to switch accessories off when the ignition switch was off (lessening the chance of coming back to a dead battery if I or someone forgot to switch everything off). Tim Holloway wired a solenoid in to the circuit to handle most of the accessories. You do need to find one that is rated for CONTINUOUS duty. Many are not (they can handle a heavy intermittent load, such as a starter, but get extremely hot under even a moderate continuous load.
