when i owned a wrecker service we had a couple w500s with np540-od trans we had a d300 with a np435 d1, it took the same pto that the w500s had on the trans, which should fit either side because they drive off the input shaft. our other 4 w300s all had pto on the transfer case. we preferred the d1 4 speed over the d3 as 3-4th gears were close ratio and we could beat our competitors w300s up donner summit in 3rd gear by about 7 mph! he never could figure out how we could beathim! the d1 was special order from the dodge seg. so, find a pto that fits the np-435 and you should be set, the output shafts on the pto are easily reversed so the same pto will work on either side.
