I put a the 12 valve from a 96 Dodge 2500 in my 65 W200 crew cab. I am running the stock intercooler, radiator and core support along with the mechanical fan. I am one valve cover into the firewall and yes I had to build a custom doghouse. Boxed in the frame rails from the front to rear of front doors. Made custom mounts with a CNC for the stock mounts. My front springs were beefed up earlier in its life.
Best improvement to these trucks. Installing a G56 amd compound turbo setup on soon. It has been my daily driver for years. Average 16-17 MPG and close to 20 on the interstate.
