I made my own harness for my military 1/2 ton closed cab. Cost me $540 for materials, including period style wire. This included enough wire for turn signals. I don't know if I saved much, but I enjoyed doing it.

I ran the wire point-to-point in my truck along the harness route, taped it together, then took it out and slipped harness material over it.

I used a woven fabric product from buyheatshrink.com that looked woven (see link). You can also get this on Amazon in shorter lengths. I heat shrinked it some, but not too tight, and it looked pretty good. You can also send your taped together harness to one of the harness makers and they'll weave a loom over it.

I wonder what others do for turn signals? For the tail lights, I used two left side blackout fixtures so I'd have brake lights on both sides. The brake light doubles as a turn signal light. For the front, I've got headlamps with built-in yellow turn signal lights. You don't see the yellow unless they're in use.
