Looking at the Best of the Forum, Installing a Windshield Rubber, I noticed your referring to Robert's T2. I spoke with Gary at Robert's and they no longer sell the T2 product. They have gone to the continuous gasket, product T359.
I agree, suppliers don't all buy from the same source, so there are differences in these products and how well they made, install, and that is compounded by the amount of iron remaining in the frame's lock channel that sometimes you just can't get out. Considering that, there may be a need to use silicone, tape and pieces of rubber to get the gasket in the shape you want, not a perfect install, however, sometimes you have no choice. The TIPs provided in the PIF are just that, steps you can take to install and get around some of the differences in products to get the desired out come and look you want. It would be great if we work with a new frame each time. I have installed the T2 in the past, it was a good gasket, I liked it.
Has anybody installed the T359 gasket by installing it in the frame's lock channel?
