Seems I do vaugely remember something about a 230 conversion in the PWA awhile back but,I am not sure of the 230 and its by-pass oiling system but, I do know that all the 251's used in the 1961-1971 WM300s had full-flow and full-pressure oiling. A by-pass system I believe, lets dirty contaminated oil go straight to the bearings as the filter starts to restrict flow when dirty or clogged.I suppose that would require 230 owners to pay closer attention and to keep the oil and filter changed. It has always been my understanding that a full-flow and better yet, a full-flow / full-pressure oiling system was better than a by-pass oil filtering system.
