Dana:

Yes, I have the middle bracket that squeezes around the thin center stip on the split windshield. The center bracket has popped off this strip a few times in high winds, causing the visor to flutter. My windshield can be cracked open a small bit even with the visor on, but doing so loosens up the visor connections, which then have to be tightened up again. That work is performed by Archie Bell & the Drells.

An alternative method is to use a piece of steel or aluminum square tubing that bolts to center underside of the visor and runs back and bolts onto the cab roof. This leaves the windshield completely free of the visor so the windshield can be cranked fully open with the visor above it. It also can provide a more stable and secure mounting for the visor if done right. Instead of one centered square tube, you could use two square tubes about 6 to 8 inches apart with their midpoint centered on the middle of the visor. This would provide two center attaching points for the visor and might be stronger yet. This would also allow the use of a center cab marker light on the cab roof.

Tilting the visor down a bit so its bottom edge is horizontal helps push the oncoming wind up and over the cab roof instread of letting it gather underneath and push up on the visor. The oncoming wind then tends to push the visor down against the cab instead of trying push it up and tear it off the cab.

I would mount the visor rigid to the cab at the angle you like best and not try to leave the visor adjustable. Visors tend to become flighty at Interstate speeds, so 55-60 may be your practical top speed with a visor. That top speed drops as any headwind increaes. Good luck with your project!
