As a longtime PW owner and one who has always used it for work instead of a hobby or investment, I feel for all the poor Joe's who fell in love with these trucks years ago and have used them for work and who have an attachment to them as a cowboy to his horse.
Will parts (body or drivetrain), that were reasonable a few years ago, become so costly now that the hobbyist/collector/investor are driving the "value" up beyond what the poorer guy will be able to afford just to keep his work truck running ?
I'm sure the government has no concern about the value of PWs climing out of sight as more and more will become just collectables and driven less and less on the road due to their increased "value" which will most likely result in legislation to further limit old vehicle use on the road.
Is a PW worth $80,000 ? I say no. Even a mint PW with only 5mi on it and stored inside is not worth that much even though someone might be foolish or desperate enough to pay that outrageous price.
Well I'll be surpized of I don't get a good verbal lashing over these remarks but, it most likely will be from those hoping to prosper from PWs above and beyond what is fair and reasonable.
If these guys live long enough to see "a days wages for a loaf of bread" I hope they remember their own words "its a sellers market". I bet that $20,000 PW will go good with bread.
