I had the same problem. I dont think manufacturing tolerences were to good back then. After I rebuilt my winch, I used a new set of NOS cable guides....they did not line up. I also used a NOS rear mount (for the 251) holes did not line up.
I went back to the original cable guides, rear mount and shift fork lock bracket, sand blasted them and since they were original to the winch, they fit perfect.
I really believe that even though some of this old stull is NOS, it might not be a perfect fit when mixing parts.
