In the past 50 years, I have added STP to multiple engines, manual transmissions, transfer cases, and third member assemblies, and I have never experienced any gumming of those assemblies using that product. STP does two things very well; reduces friction and minimizes wear of moving parts. I also use a mixture of 50% engine oil and STP as assembly lube when assembling engines. Indy racers have added it to their race car engines for years and I do not recall ever hearing of an engine gumming up from high revs and heat using it. It does thicken the oil a bit and for a new rebuilt or worn engine, it does not hurt it. The good thing is that it remains on parts when vehicles set for extended periods providing lubrication on startups. I have it in all the assemblies on my PW and will continue to use it, period!
