The kicker is, if you are looking at a loose transmission in a junkyard or elsewhere, the casting number C93511 will identify it as a NP420. You must then look at the mounting ears to determine which bell housing it will fit. The civilian and M37 have different tops and that can help identify which it is, unless someone like me has switched tops.
The bell housing I have is the original to the truck so there must be several versions that they used.
