the military bases specs on a 50% under rating, for example the mu-2 winch, although braden rates it as 5000 lbs on early ones and 8000 lb on post war, braden rates the breaking strength of the winch at 14,000 lbs according to old braden literature. basically abuilt in duty factor. same with the trucks...have you ever seen an active duty military truck carrying a light load ?
