Off Topic: Using a D/W series long stepside box on a 2007 35

I know that this is a silly thought, but the box of my 07 3500 turbo diesel 4x4 is rusting above the real wheels and I need to do something about it as I want to keep the truck for the foreseeable future. In pondering it, I really like the box on my 62 W300 Power Wagon and I've seen that same style box used by Dodge through the early 70s, and occasionally by somebody retrofitting a truck into the early 90s.

Would it be possible to fit a stepside long box form a 3/4 ton from the 60s/early 70s, on an 07 3500 and not have it be some sort of a retrofitting nightmare?

Again, I know that this is a silly, and off topic, question.
