An automatic sure would be nice for my 56 year old clutch knee! I'm hoping to keep the transfer case in the original location (or close to it), but we'll see what other priorities there are.
What year do you use to differentiate older and newer engines? Should I avoid the ISB engines if possible? I'm not a big fan of engine computers.
This truck will have an M43 chassis with a 4 door M37 cab and 5-1/2 bed. I plan to keep the M37 axles and run 4.30 or 4.89 gears. Tires TBD.
As for usage, I want a reliable general duty pickup truck to use around town; carry small to medium size loads of materials or trash; transport up to 5 people and gear into the mountains for a weekend. More of a work truck than a beauty queen, but I want it to be comfortable in normal Colorado weather conditions (A/C?). I expect it will be on local paved roads 99% of the time, with a few trips up the canyons into the mountains. There will be some occasional mild off-roading and maybe some interstate driving.
