Are there carbs with floats adjusted other than by bending the tab at the needle valve?
If its a typical Carter, the float level doesn't just "change" and become too high. It only changes if someone opens the carb and messes with the float level. More likely to be a worn needle valve tip or a structural failure of the carb components
