It's typical for these trucks to have a smell in two places: seepage around the carburetor body and at the vented gas cap. If you have buildup on carburetor that is brown, periodically clean it off with carb and choke cleaner. You can't do much at the cap except seal it with a zip lock to hold the fumes in.
