As little as possible. My 51 has patina with some surface rust on the running boards. All I have ever done is a little wax from time to time and keep it garaged. The rust hasn’t gone anywhere since 1986. I treated the original bed wood with a 50 50 mix of linseed oil and mineral spirits as it was dried out.
