I was given a set of bumpers (see above) for my 6x6 (Thanks Dana!) that needed a fair bit of work, and we were able to straighten them in our press. According to the gauge we were running it at about 1-2 tons of pressure. The steel almost seemed to want to move back into position. We also used a set of 2 lb drilling hammers to straighten the flanges. No heat involved at all. It was a very satisfying process.
A great little book to read is Metal Bumping by Frank Sargent, available for $15.00 just about everywhere. It's worth every penny!
