The Captain was brought up on charges of failing to zig zag the ship. The US Navy brought in the Japanese Sub commander to testify at the court marshal hearing shortly after the war.When asked if zig zagging would have made a difference, he stated it would not have mattered. The Captain later committed suicide. There was a lot of Navy politics involved in his trail. A very sad story.
