I took a tire/wheel from my WDX to get a flat repaired. Turns out the tube was ripped inside from something on the flap that was rubbing. The store, usually very dependable and efficient in the past, replaced the tube. Due to COVID-19 concerns, I asked them to put it in the back of my flatbed and they emailed the bill. When I got home I noticed the valve stem, which is metal, is so long that it actually projects about 3/8" past the face of the sidewall. I called and asked what they were thinking and I was told that 900 16 tubes are obsolete and not available. When I told them I could order one from VPW for $25 they suddenly discovered they could get one from another store in Oregon. So now that tube is coming, next Thursday....
I still can't believe they actually thought I was going to be okay with that kind of treatment. Of course, the manager, whom I have dealt with for 15 years, was off on vacation for a week. But he'll be there when I go back next week.
