I take a socket that just fits over the whole freeze plug. put it backwards on a 6 inch extension, whack them in good. I dont use sealer. never had them leak. having surfaces spotless clean and driving them in right is the key. i had an engine done by someone else back inthe 90s and most of them fell out. PIA to do them in the truck
