So before I bought my first Power Wagon when I was a youngster, I was big into restoring vintage Cadillacs. I met lots of friends in that world & then you know how it goes...your interests change. So I have a friend that's always had nice vintage Cadillacs & his interests have never changed it seems & he's still driving the big boats.
A few years ago he found a low mileage 59 Cadillac that was the kind of car most of you guys would like...low miles, original paint, never been apart..a legitimate barn find. So it hadn't been running in 20 years or more, flat tires...you know the drill & he has zero mechanical ability & wants me to get it up & running for him. Umm....I don't have time to get my own up & running anymore! Lol.
So with this virus fiasco & all the work shut downs...it gave me a chance to revisit that since he has a shop that's close to my house & empty...I could work away in there for a few weeks & not have to see anyone!
Anyway...to make a long story a little shorter...I got it up & running within an hour or so but you guys know how these stories go...this car is useless unless a guy does a ton of chassis/mechanical restoration & if you don't want a piece of crap in the end...the only way it can happen is lots of labour.
Lucky this guys not a corner cutter but I convinced him that this car needs the rolling chassis fully restored. The frame is mint but it's packed full of dirt & grease. I mean everything that can leak on a car has obviously been doing lots of it because it's caked in grease & oil.
So I'm going back to my roots :)
Really great car...here's a pic...almost no body rust & super cool working on a car where there's minimal mechanical damage like we see on our trucks....
