I'm confussed, I thought I knew how everything on my truck worked & now this one really has me stumped. I have my rear brakes apart & axels out. I took the rear hubs off to inspect the bearings & install new seals & I just can't understand this system?
I thought the rear wheel bearings ran in 90 weight gear oil on these, but how can they with the outer rear seal arrangement that seems to be there to keep the gear lube out? Do they get packed in grease? Can't be because there was only gear oil in the bearings.
Can anyone explain to me how this works...I can't find anywhere in my manual where it even mentions the rear hubs?
It seems to me after studying this all night that with the outer seal in place the only place gear oil can get to these bearings is through the key-way where the lock nuts go?
Help!!
