OK, first, as mentioned, this works on full floating axel's where the axel and the flange is all 1 piece.
remove or loosen the nuts, smack the center of the flange with a hammer...the axel/flange assembly will pop right out...I've done it a hundred times..yes it bangs up the center of the flange a little but it's a better option than a "cold chisel" pounded between the mating surfaces of the hub and flange.
