I was only trying to convey what the fire chief said. I did tell him I thought that the range for a PW fire truck was 3-8 K depending on condition. Had I pursued this, I would have offered something less than $8000 because it was clearly not perfect. Actually of course, the really nice ones will go for more than that. He said they might consider something in the $8000 range or above. According to him, some in the company want to keep the truck and others would sell it. The deciding factor for them will be how much they can get. Those are simply the facts.
I was not willing to pay even $8000 for the truck, even less, otherwise I would not have posted this information. I am not sure what in my post leads you to believe I was "too excited" when I talked with them. In fact, I only talked with him on the phone and did not further follow up on it.
Anyway, fire trucks tend to be in very solid condition. They have been garaged their full life and are usually well maintainted. I thought someone on this board might want be interested in it.
