I found a 1957 Power Wagon (WDX type) in a fire station in Milford NJ. I was very excited because this is one of the first "wild" Power Wagons I have found completely on my own...and it was possible to buy it! I contacted the fire company and they are considering selling it...as the guy said, money will talk. It think it will take more than I want to pay and as my wife notes, I don't really NEED another Power Wagon. Not sure what they want, I think something approaching $10,000.

Now this one is not pristine but still looks to be in pretty solid condition. There are some dents and the running boards are bent. Paint is good but not perfect. The truck is still in service so it should be in good mechanical conditition...but I have not driven it. From my discussion with the assistant chief, the front pump will do about 500 gpm. There is a smaller pump and water tank in the bed. The front pump runs off the front of the engine.

Apparently they bought the truck many years ago from a local military base. As they were driving it back to Milford, they blew the engine. Probably from lack of oil or water. Anyway this assistant chief was one of the guys who installed the new engine they got from Chrysler. I did not confirm which engine this is, but of course a 230 would be correct. Anyway the new engine should have very few miles...maybe 10K

To contact them, fax 908 995 2343 or call the assistant chief at his home 908 995 4323.

Address is (located in one of the fire houses in the center of the village)

Borough of Milford
PO Box 507
Milford, NJ
08848-0507

Please keep me updated on what happens using email. I live about an hour away so could possibly visit again if necessary. And I'd be pleased to accept a beer from anyone who buys this as compensation for not buying the first PW I found in the wild!

Good luck, I hope someone who appreciates these trucks gets it.
