It may be realistic at 4-5K, but I agree with rdavis. The guy who owns it must be felt out to see if he has any idea of its worth or desireability. If the guy knows old trucks are worth something, but has no idea what a PW is worth, all the better. Low ball the guy, all he can do is say no. I also would be uneasy with trying to get it running. If it does fire up, the guy may decide to keep it, or think it's worth more. In that case you just screwed yourself. If you are really curious about the engine, see if the crank will or will not turn and leave it at that. Try to buy the truck as it sits, use your gut feeling. Decide on a comfortable price that may be great if all is well, and not too disappointing if the truck isn't quite as good as you thought when you get it home.
