OK, my Pertronix FINALLY arrived today, got it installed (left the distributor in), went to start it and the engine fought the starter! So, you're right about timing!
It took forever to find the mark on the dampener, but once found, the timing was off by almost the next plug wire!!!
Goty her set to a perfect and steady 10° BTDC, and all seems well with world again! Now, when I get my brakes working, I'll take her a run to really see what's going on!
