The rubber insulation and cloth binding of the military trucks just falls apart.
I tend to replace most of the stuff I can get to, but I salvage all the cable ends and things if I can (just like the structural bolts) I then cut up old chassis harnesses and re-terminate the sound sections to rewire visible bits of the dash and engine compartment, and run new cable down the chassis, although I did manage to find original NOS chassis wiring for the WC 53.
Some of the small electrical and hydraulic components are a pain over here in the UK, things like the chassis / body round wirng multi-connector on the WCs.
