Here are some things to check:

The STD spring is not painted. Lighter than STD is red, heavier than STD is green. You want the part 1119996 heavy spring (green).

If someone has replaced the pump cover gasket with paper that is thicker than the STD gasket, that will reduce your pressure. Get a STD gasket and replace it. If this doesn't get your pressure up and steady, then do the following.

Drop the pan and check your main and rod bearing clearance using plastic gauge. Main bearing clearance s/b .002 and rods s/b .001. If your beyond that, you can shim the bearings by placing brass shim stock between the cap and bearing to press the bearing closer to the crank journal, thus reducing the clearance. This is probably where your problem is. The temperature at the journal is about 300 degrees, so any greater clearance than STD and you can see that it's not long before oil going through that hot area begins running like water between the crank journal and bearing reducing your pressure. Shim stock can be purchased from OHS or local parts stores from .001 to .010 and higher. This may be a nice New Year project! Good Luck, let us know what you find out.
