I think this is probably the way I need to go. I am working on a newer jeep trying to change the front shock. I don't car about damaging the stud because the shock us shot but it is pressurized so I prefer not to damage the shock body. It has a plastic piece that mounts the abs unit directly above it and I would have to remove that to get good access to the top. This is also the reason I don't want too much heat and burn the Jeep to the ground. The threads aren't particularly dirty or rusty so I believe it was cross threaded from the factory because it moves but never frees up seems to get tighter. Seemed like if there ever was an application to use a nut splitter this was it but I suspect I will have better luck with a burr and careful grinding.
