I'll talk to you about it, Tim. I know the shortcomings of electric winches. I was hoping to find something inexpensive to get me by. I guess a big part of this depends on how I end up using this truck. I'm not going to be going mudding or hard-core rock crawling. I don't think I'll be winching out logs with it since my tractor is already set up for that... but you never know.
If I could find a cheap 24V motor to fit the winch I have now, I'd do that to get me by until I figured out my long-term plans. If it's just the odd short pulls (lifting and lowering a snow plow? Bumping a log across the trail out of my way?) electric would be fine. If I do any real winching, I'd make the jump to the PTO winch - electric winches leave a LOT to be desired for longer hard pulls.
