I never realized how spoiled I was having PTO winches until I got a few rigs with electric ones.
I have had to repair a few PTO winches. My brother once pulled a fully submerged F250 out of a pond and pushed the worm gear out of the side in the process.
He did get the truck to shore and then POP! Bye bye aluminum threads. Good thing my othere brother is a machinest!
My Dad always taught me that snatch blocks were my friend. My brother just liked to smash stuff.
