I started using dwell meters on my points systems when i was fairly young. points essentially don't wear when points are set right and don't need frequent adjustment. on daily drivers i would throw the dwell meter on once or twice a year just to check but in most cases they never needed re adjusting. now days its the condensers that fail. the chinese junk is just a piece of foil suspended in resin. the failure rate is very high. they way good ones are built its almost impossible for them to fail.
