I noticed that he mentioned that the wheels were all stamped 48. No mention of another number on the wheels. My 1947 WDX wheels are all stamped 47, let's say between nuts #1 and #2. Then between (without going to look) #3 and #4 or is it #4 and #5 they are all stamped with the number 4. Am I right in assuming that this number #4 is to indicate the month of the year? The truck was assembled in August 47.
I have also been told that the military truck wheels were not stamped to indicate the year. Is there any truth in that statement?
Tomorrow morning I will be heading 70 miles north to the "Buck Bay Deer Camp" for the second week of deer hunting. This is the camp my Father in Law and seven other guys founded in 1947. The camp is situated on a medium sized river. For my 42nd year in attendance I will be using my 1958 10 hp Johnson outboard. So Bill would it be ok to say that it is also "Job Rated"?
And Bill there is no electricity (other than a small generator) and no crock pots (ha-ha) either, we have to keep the wood burning cook stove fired up for the week.
JJB.
