I could be wrong (ask my wife), but it sounds like your observer is overthinking the situation. You had maybe 500-1000 lbs of pull on the cable when you loaded it. Much less than what the winch is rated for. I've never heard that we need to respool the cable after a medium to hard pull. But again, ask my wife.
