FFPW Hood Wont Latch, continued

The latch levers are loose on the spring loaded sliding rod due to the riveted ends being warn. So when I pushed down on the lever the tang side rotated up and away from the striker. The tang never would clear the bottom of the striker.

I inserted a large screwdriver in and on the bottom of the rod at the lever contact and pushed down on the screwdriver. This action allowed the latch lever to clear and latch.

I am hoping that the lacing will relax over time and not take up so much space.
