My '51 came to me with a 318 mated to a hydraulic bellhousing out of a 60's medium duty Dodge truck. That hellhousing mounts directly to the standard 4-speeds in our trucks. I kept it when I upgraded to a 5.9 Magnum two years ago. Flywheel was the only tricky component, I had to have one custom balanced as the Magnums were externally balanced vs. the LAs.
Hanging pedals were torched out of the donor truck and bolted to the dash panel. Works well.
Motor mounts were hand-fabricated by the previous owner but kits were available once upon a time.
