Permatex Aviation Cement and a composite gasket will never leak. Aviation Cement is resistant to gasoline, kerosene, etc. The only thing that will break it down is lacquer thinner and even then you have to work at to get it off.
Remove the studs and clean and dry them good, a little aviation cement on the threads and your leaks will be history. Leather is good for a seal, but not for a gasket being compressed by two surfaces. JMO
