Most people looking at the image at the link would say the cluster gear is in good shape, it is in fact shot, it's worn beyond the .002 limit. When they are shot, they growl like a ruff bearing. The trans section of the PIF has the wear limits. Pull the tranny and mic all bearing surfaces gears/shafts. My guess is you have worn parts and maybe bad bearings. Ask the trans shop that rebuilt it to explain what did in the rebuild process.
