I had to pull the 3rd member and when I did, I found it on the axle shafts and not in the oil, disappointing.
Only STP, it mixes well with oil.
Not in the trans or diffs. Trans have an oil slinger that may hinder oiling of the ball bearings and in diffs, the oil has to sling to the front pinion bearings.
Some of the guys use grease in the steering box, I use straight STP and it leaks past the adjustment screw so I may at some point use grease.
