I am not sure it’s totally collectability. Jerry mentioned price and complexity of today’s new trucks. That is a big factor. How many people can afford a $50 to 70k truck? Most younger people must buy used to get big 4x4 truck. Additionally, people want trucks that they grew up with. Well the kids that grew up in the 80’s now have the disposable income to do that. Considering the high price of new trucks $15 to 20K is a drop in the bucket.
In my area a lot of younger people are giving up cars because it is so expensive around here. The price of a studio apartment is $2500+ a month.
