Seeing a completely restored or immaculate original PW (or any classic vehicle) is always more rewarding to me than any restomodded or modified one. When I bought my first PW, the plan was to restore it, and any thought of modifying anything didn't enter my mind. As other trucks came and went, I still wanted to stay original it. Eventually, the realization that I could never afford to, nor had the skills to restore it the way it should be was what ended up being the deciding factor. I see Dan's amazing work and wish I could have one of his finished trucks (the 426 one will always be my favorite), but that isn't ever going to happen. So the two "bests of either world" are beyond what my hopes for my truck(s) will ever be. But the right to own one and enjoy it in whichever way one can is all that matters. My '53 keeps getting farther from stock every day, even though it's not my intention. I need sun visors, but can't see the point of spending $400 for a passenger side original which needs complete restoration when I can get a new pair of Jeep ones that can be made to look like they were made for the truck for $50. The extra money saved allows me to survive for another week or be able to buy another part for it that gets it closer to being drivable again. So I guess after all of the rambling, it's up to you what you do, but it's your truck, and enjoy it how you see fit. 🙂
