Interesting & sounds likely.
I worked with a fellow at the shipyard we ran here & he built many single axle trailers. He used to heat the front side of the pipe axle tube to shrink & consequently create a controlled toe’d in effect to make them tow better. I guess if you didn’t know what you were doing & applied too much heat, you could create a bad situation for tires.
