I had no problem getting the latch into pre-position. There is plenty of written information on how to start low just above the lower spot weld and using the remote arm rotate the mechanism into pre-position.
My problem was the striker would not clear the hole in the door where the mechanism finalizes for complete the insertion. I had to retract the striker using the inside remote door mechanism by screwing it into place then working the inside door handle to retract the striker.
