I've been thinking about it too, and it really shouldn't make a difference. It should still oil. I found a 1957 chrysler shop manual, showed an oil trough that bolted to the cam hold down plate, was positioned under top gear to run oil onto chain or lower gear. My 66 manual does not show or mention this trough. This tells me though that it should be oiling from above(cam) rather than crank.
I thought maybe they had used wrong cam bearings, but according to Polyspherical website, A and LA series interchange . I'm still afraid I may have to pull timing chain cover and see what's going on.
