I agree with Matt, take it apart. VPW sells new steering gears, maybe bearings/bushings. The worm probably is fine, it probably just needs to get back in specs. Have a machinist install the bushings, they probably will need to ream them to the shaft size. It's a simple rebuild you can do unless you want to pay $450+ to have someone do it.
