I like PWs mostly stock, unless a truck is just a basket case anyway. Lots of m37s and ‘40s 2wd sheet metal out there to mess around with - a stock PW is functional as-designed and holds its value.
But some people probably don’t like that I used an Econoline van fuel tank in my ‘50 and left all the PUD-installed extra plate and brackets bolted to the frame.
A clean 318 or 4BT swap w/12 volts, MT, 4.89 gears and disk brakes with stock axles, custom steel wheels for modern tires - that’s probably the best of both worlds.
