They are not as sensitive as some people make them out to be. forged crank, good factory balance, good oil system, full floating wrist pins, hardened valve seats. That was just standard back then. Then in the late 60s those features became the high performance options. most things now dont have forged cranks. even the chinese cummins are all cast cranks for years.......weak
I have probably 200 to 250K of driving 230s. never spun a nearing or threw a rod. a couple were so worn out they went through a quart every 80 miles.
