If it's new equipment, they may be right. I went to the Dodge dealer last week to have a part locator done on a 6 digit part number. The parts guy punched it in and the computer responded with nothing. The parts guy said it was a bad number, I replied it was a good number, he asked what year, I said 56, he said to old, the database only goes back to 84. This "just-in-time" nonsense is Nonsense!
